Unexpectedly Fashionable

I thought that by coming to Taiwan, I’d be taking a break from fashionable pursuits, but today definitely proved that to be false.  My parents and I decided to wander around Hsinchu and partway through the day my mom complained that her shoes were uncomfortable.  She wanted to get a new pair so we stepped into the first shoe store we saw.  Turns out they sell Heavy Machine shoes!

My mom saw me staring at the shoes all goggly-eyed and suggested I try on a pair, which I staunchly refused to do because I knew the minute I did I’d melt into a puddle of self-pitying goo at not being able to afford them.

After I said my goodbyes we went to check out a movie theater, but right outside of it was a fashion show!  I can’t tell you much about what the show was for and who was showing.  All I know is that it was a student show and we’d stumbled upon it during the accessories segment.  Being that I’ve been a shitty blogger as of late I decided to diligently take some pictures.  Strange accessories and insane makeup about sums this up.

This collection of pieces has some weird filigree and wire work.  While the mushroom headpiece is cool, but strange, there was something even more bizarre in the collection…

Yep, a wire baby.  Who wouldn’t want to accessorize by hanging a wire baby (organs included?) off of their neck?  This girl certainly didn’t seem to mind.

I like the flow-y metal shawl collar thing.  While it may get in the way of doing basic things like eat, at least it’d help you maintain a personal space bubble at all times.

Gigantically awesome wire flower necklace that partially obstructs the wearer’s vision!!!

J, DIY at jewelry studio can we can we please please please?
