Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor

The story behind this picture is that I interviewed there this week for an internship…and then I turned them down. See, the ending in tears part did come true after all! What happened was that I had an interview before Marchesa and that interview went so ridiculously well that I knew I would love working with the company. I’m normally terrible at interviews because I get nervous and then really awkward so for an interview to just flow naturally is a huge deal for me. Plus the company works with Lane Crawford, which is awesome. But back to Marchesa. So I get to their studio and the woman interviewing me sits us down right next to the Marchesa dress Rihanna wore to the 2009 American Music Awards.

Yeah, this one. I’m amazed she wanted to offer me a position since I was too busy staring at the dress to make eye contact with her. Surprisingly, the interview went decently well, but it never hit the conversational stride the first one did. Leaving the Marchesa studio was a little devastating. I wanted to say good bye to all of the gorgeous, stunning, magnificent dresses I knew I was walking away from. It undoubtedly would have been amazing to work there, but the internship I ended up taking seemed to fit better with me. Still, it was a really hard decision to make because there’s just something so hypnotizing about a big brand name.
*Siiiiiiiiiiiiiigh* It wasn’t meant to be.

Here’s a blurry picture of the outfit I wore to the interviews and agonized over the night before. Brown slacks. Random blue top. Rodarte for Target sheer top and Urban Outfitters Blazer.
I spent the rest of my day in the city consoling myself/celebrating by trying things on. Awesome things. Particularly the last one.

Katy Rodriguez jacket and skirt. The skirt surprised me by being poofy and fun, but still formal. When I put it on I had a glorious, “this was made for my body” moment. It fit so perfectly. Has that ever happened to you? It never happens to me. Especially not with pants. Pants hate my waist, thighs, and ass combo. Denim was my mortal enemy for a long time. We’re on speaking terms now.

A Peter Pilotto skirt. It was jewel/stone-encrusted, which I thought actually went very well with the print and draping. It’s a lot together, but somehow manages not to be too much. And in times of need it came be taken off and used as a weapon! Seriously, it was sharp and heavy. Perfect bludgeoning tool.
And lastly……….

A giraffe sweatshirt with built-in giraffe head puppet!!!!!!!!!! There are not enough exclamation points in the world to express how excited I was to wear this thing. Those close to me know that I have a weird obsession with giraffes. And this sweatshirt symbolizes everything that is good in the world to me. What’s really cool is that you can opt out of wearing your giraffe head mitten because there is a sleeve opening. But I don’t know why you’d ever want to do that. I could really take “talk to the hand” to new heights with this sweatshirt. I’m just saying that if someone told me to talk to the hand and they were wearing this, I might actually be inclined to obey them.
“Heeey Mr. Giraffe Head” (imagine Buster’s voice here. If you don’t know what that means, go watch Arrested Development)
