Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
Guess who rolled into town on Saturday? Ree Drummond the Pioneer Woman! I love the Pioneer Woman! My friend and I went to Chelsea Market to see her. I wanted to tell her that I loved her boots, but I forgot in the excitement of actually meeting her. Definitely got a little nervous, though I don’t know why because she was so incredibly nice. Well if she ever happens upon this post I’m going to leave a shout out. REE, THE BOOTS YOU WORE TO CHELSEA MARKET WERE GORGEOUS. Anyway, my friend and I chatted with her for a bit, took a picture, and got our books signed.
Here we are! We were about to head on our merry way when we realized that Deb of Smitten Kitchen was hanging out with her family right behind Ree’s table. Her baby is adorable and we had a great time talking to her. If any of you ever need a tart crust recipe, you should definitely try hers. It’s the best I’ve ever made. The entire experience of getting to meet the people who write blogs that I read on a regular basis was so much fun. After meeting our blog idols, my friend and I ate at The Green Table in Chelsea Market. It’s this organic and sustainable restaurant that managed to seem both high end and rustic at the same time. Plus the food was delicious.

Mac & Cheese and a Vegetarian Pot Pie.
Here are some other things we saw around Chelsea Market and the city.
.
Chelsea Market was having this recycled art exhibit and this was a Christmas tree made out of….

CDs!!! The stuff underneath it was old cassette tape.

A light made from recycled cups.

The tree at Rockefeller Center! It was huge and it seemed like every tourist in New York was packed in Rockefeller Center at the time. But there’s nothing like a gigantic tree to get you into holiday spirit.

The lighting on this cathedral was just so cool that everybody was just stopping in the street to look at it.
Man, I really love New York City sometimes. It was crowded as all hell and cold too, but last Saturday was a good day. And I haven’t even gotten to the pictures we took at Saks…..but I’ll save that for another post.

Some macarons to close out this post because I’ve ended trips to the city with macarons more times than I can count.
